UVEITIS - A condition where there is inflammation of the iris, ciliary body, and-or choroid layer in the eye. Uveitis may be anterior (most common) or posterior in distribution within the eye. The uvea is the layer between the sclera and the retina. It contains many blood vessels. Causes for uveitis include allergy, infection, trauma, chemical exposure, or for reasons unknown.
