TOXOPLASMOSIS -
An infection caused by Toxoplasma parasites which commonly occurs in mammals (cats) and birds, and may infect man. Intrauterine fetal and infant infections are often severe, producing encephalitis, seizures, hydrocephaly and eye disease, resulting in death. Those who recover may have mental impairment or blindness. Toxoplasmosis (particularly eye disease) is now being seen in patients who suffer from AIDS.
