REBOUND TENDERNESS - A finding on the examination of the abdomen which suggests peritonitis. With rebound, palpation of the abdomen results in more intense pain when the examiner abruptly lifts their hand off of the abdomen than when he or she presses down on it. Other peritoneal signs include abdominal rigidity and abdominal guarding.
