RADIOPAQUE CONTRAST DYE - A radiopaque substance (e.g. metal) will be highlighted (appear white) on a plain x-ray. The use of iodine containing radiopaque contrast dyes allow enhancement of the anatomy demonstrable with conventional x-ray.
