PLEURAL EFFUSION - A collection of fluid (or blood) in the pleural space ( in one side of the chest cavity around the lung). May be secondary to trauma, cancer, nephrotic syndrome, kidney disease, pancreatitis, congestive heart failure, and cirrhosis. See pleural space.
