PENICILLINS - A large group of antibiotic medications originally extracted from fungi. All penicillins have a similar chemical structure and mode of action on bacteria. Examples include amoxicillin, ampicillin, carbenicillin, cloxacillin, dicloxacillin, ticarcillin, oxacillin, and phenoxymethylpenicillin.
