NOREPINEPHRINE - A hormone that is produced by the adrenal medulla and considered to be a postganglionic adrenergic mediator. Norepinephrine has many of the excitatory effects of epinephrine, but has minimal inhibitory effects. Unlike epinephrine, norepinephrine triggers vasoconstriction (rather than vasodilation) and has little effect on cardiac output.
