NEUROFIBROMATOSIS - A rare genetic (autosomal dominant) disorder which effects cell growth of nerve tissue. Individuals have multiple cutaneous and subcutaneous tumors which appear in late childhood. Other findings include medium-brown, flat discolorations to the skin, known as cafe au lait spots. Secondary hypertension may develop from renal artery stenosis, pheochromocytoma, or coarctation of the aorta.
