MULTIPLE ENDOCRINE NEOPLASIA (MEN) II - This is a hereditary disorder in which two or more of the following glands: thyroid, adrenal, or parathyroid, develop overgrowth (hyperplasia) or malignant cells (cancer). The underlying cause is genetic and a positive family history for this illness is a risk factor. Incidence is approximately 3 in 100,000 people in the general population.
