HYPOKALEMIA - Abnormal decrease in blood potassium concentration. Can result in cardiac arrhythmias and death. Normal blood potassium should be in the range of 3.8 to 5.0 milliequivalents per liter. Hypokalemia can occur secondary to a drug side effect, vomiting, or excessive diarrhea.
