HEMOCHROMATOSIS - A rare genetic disease that results in the overabundance of iron in the body tissues. Organs affected include the liver, brain, heart, and kidneys. Complications include liver dysfunction, diabetes, changes in skin pigmentation, heart problems, arthritis, and testicular atrophy. Treatment includes therapeutic phlebotomy on a regular basis.
