HELICAL CT - This is a new CT technology that is allowing for more rapid image production than traditional CT. Helical CT can image the entire chest from the aortic knob (top of the heart) down to the diaphragm in 20 to 30 seconds. Helical CT is emerging as a new method for the diagnosis of a variety of conditions ranging from pulmonary embolism to acute appendicitis.
