GLUCOCORTICOIDS - Corticosteroid substances (drugs or hormones) involved in carbohydrate metabolism (glucose regulation) and possess anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. Examples include: Prednisone, prednisolone, methylprednisolone, hydrocortisone, and dexamethasone. Glucocorticoids are also produced normally by the adrenal cortex and provide for the response to stress.
