EHLERS-DANLOS SYNDROME -
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is an inherited disorder of the connective tissue. The essential pathology of Ehlers-Danlos is thought to lie in a defect in the cross-linkage of the connective tissue collagen. Common symptoms and signs include hyperextensibility of the joints and skin. Patients exhibit easy bruising, poor wound healing, and delicate skin. Other features include pseudotumors and abnormalities in the cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal and ocular (vision) systems. There is no treatment for this genetic disorder, only supportive care.
