ECLECTIC - An American group of physicians with a holistic, low-tech, noninvasive philosophy who practiced primarily in rural areas from the 1840s to the mid 1900s. Although the Eclectic schools did not continue, Naturopathy has adopted many of the philosophies of these physicians.
