CUSHING'S DISEASE - An increased concentration of glucocorticoid hormone in the bloodstream (produced by the adrenal gland) secondary to a pituitary tumor that is secreting the hormone adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). ACTH serves to stimulate the adrenal gland to produce excess glucocorticoids.
