CREPITUS - A crinkly, crackling, or grating feeling or sound in the joints, skin, or lungs. Bony crepitus is a form of crepitus that is appreciated when on palpated over a fractured bone. The finding of crepitus can strongly suggest bone fracture or pneumothorax if discovered over the chest wall.
