CAROTID SINUS - A slight dilation in the carotid artery at it's bifurcation into the external and internal carotid arteries; it contains baroreceptors (pressure sensors) that when stimulated, will cause a reflex slowing of the heart, vasodilation, and a fall in blood pressure.
