ANGIOEDEMA - A condition (often allergic) characterized by the development of urticaria (hives) and swollen areas to the skin, mucous membranes, or viscera. Serious angioedema reactions can involve the tongue or larynx and compromise breathing. May occur secondary to certain medications (see ACE inhibitors).
