5'-NUCLEOTIDASE - 5-nucleotidase, also referred to as 5'-N'TASE or 5'-NT is a liver enzyme that can be measured in the bloodstream. It can be a specific indicator for liver disease when it is elevated. The normal value is 0 to 1.6 U/L (units per liter). 5-nucleotidase can be elevated in cholestasis, hepatic ischemia, liver necrosis, liver tumor, hepatitis, and the use of hepatotoxic drugs. The assay is performed on a venipuncture specimen.
