17-KETOSTEROIDS - A urine test which measures the amount of 17-ketosteroids. A fraction of cortisol is metabolized to 17-ketosteroids and excreted in the urine. Conditions which result in increased serum cortisol (Cushing's syndrome and Cushing's disease) will result in elevations in 17-ketosteroid levels in the urine.
